Your First Visit

We are excited to welcome you at our practice! There is nothing we enjoy more than meeting new patients and making them feel right at home.

New Patient Appointment

Before your first appointment, we need to gather some essential information about you that will help us understand what your oral health needs are. For your convenience, you can request an appointment here. You will then need to visit our Forms page to submit your information online prior to your appointment.

If you haven't submitted your forms prior to your appointment, please plan to arrive about 15-30 minutes earlier than your scheduled time. We can then perform a COVID-19 screening prior to your appointment

Dental Insurance

If you have dental insurance, you will need to provide us with this information before your first appointment. You can provide this information over the phone, submit it online or take a picture of your insurance card and email it to us at info@ringwoodsmiles.com. When we have your insurance information beforehand, we can verify your dental insurance benefits so that when you are here, we can provide you with accurate estimates for any necessary treatment. We want your first visit to be as simple and easy as possible!

What to Bring to Your First Visit

Please bring a photo ID as well as any insurance cards and payment methods you plan to use.

Release of Records from another office

If you are a new patient transferring in from another dental office, we welcome the transfer of records from your prior dentist. Although not required, we also might ask that you provide any x-ray images from your prior dentist depending on the treatment.

Your prior dentist will probably have a Release of Records form for you to complete before they can release your records to us.

Your First Appointment

You can expect to be warmly received by our team when you arrive at our practice. You will meet someone from our front desk team who will check you in and gather your information. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, we established certain protocols to for your safety and you can read them here.

One of our awesome assistants will welcome you back to your room and get you settled comfortably. They will first talk to you about your oral health habits and take any necessary x-rays. Once you are settled in, depending if it is an emergency visit or regular comprehensive check up, D.r Tordoya will speak to you about your medical and dental history and address any concerns you may have. He will perform a comprehensive exam and talk to you about any areas of concern. If you have immediate concerns or pain you would like addressed in your first visit, please let us know when scheduling your new patient appointment. We can often complete or start treatment the same day in these instances.

For child patients, our team will work to build their trust and help them feel comfortable. By talking with your child and getting to know them, our team will be able to provide them exceptional dental care. If for any reason your child needs specialized care beyond what we can offer, we will provide you with the appropriate referral. During their visit, you are welcome to accompany them in the treatment room or wait in our reception area. It is important to know that any patient who is under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult at their first visit, including the treatment plan and the discussion of finances ,

If the child patient is to attend an appointment on their own we will need your WRITTEN authorization from the parent. The parent will need to be available for any questions we may have prior, during, and after the course of treatment.

Developing a Personalized Treatment Plan

Dr. Tordoya will discuss any findings and present X-Rays and intra-oral pictures to you. He will address any problems you have and how to treat them effectively. We will provide a personalized treatment plan that takes all your unique needs into account and to help you achieve your oral health goals. Dr. Tordoya or the hygienist will proceed to do your regular cleaning.

Before you leave, you will check out with someone from our front desk or clinical assistant team, who will take any payment due (if any), review your insurance and financial needs, and help you schedule future appointments as necessary.

It is also important to know that co-pays or any payments are due the same day of the treatment visit before it is rendered unless prior arrangements have been made.
